Lil' Dumb Cane Plant
Don't let the name fool you, this Lil’ South American beauty is anything but dumb. Its real name is Dieffenbachia Maculata Amy - but it knows that to get ahead in life you need to appear unassuming, so it prefers Dumb Cane. The Lil’ Dumb Cane Plant is quick to grow and will reach heights of 1.5 metres if you nurture its young mind.
While this Lil' Prick may seem laid back thanks to its shade tolerance, it knows what it wants and goes for it. It likes bright, indirect sunlight, and its leaves will whiten in bright light. It also demands watering little but often and prefers hotter temperatures of 18 - 25°C, but it can handle as low as 10°C, with some humidity. This smart lil' Dumbcane knows that sometimes you have be adaptable and look your best to get ahead. That's why the Dieffenbachia can adapt to office life (though it may take a month or two - who doesn't prefer working from home?) and it likes to keep its patterned foliage looking its best. To ensure even growth, rotate it regularly, and be sure to trim wilting and browning leaves to keep it looking fresh and young - nothing wrong with a little nip and tuck!
Don't think the Lil' Dumb Cane's pretty looks and name make it an airhead or weak either, this Lil' Prick's sap is poisonous. If you touch it inappropriately, expect a venomous response and wash your hands! For that reason, be sure to keep pets and Lil' Pricklettes that can't keep their hands to themselves away from it.
