Sweetheart Plant
The Philodendron Scandens, or Sweetheart Plant, is recognisable by its heart-shaped leaves. This fast-growing trailing houseplant will reach a maximum length of 4m if you don't trim it. Although traditionally a trailer, you can grow the Sweetheart Plant as a climber with a moss pole.
Sweetheart Plant care isn't difficult either. They are shade-tolerant and thrive best in indirect light. Water them regularly and mist on occasion however, too much water will cause their leaves to turn yellow. If you would like your Heart-leaf Philodendron to have larger leaves, keep it in a more humid environment.
Although it comes from South America, the Philodendron Scandens is happy in our colder climate; it can tolerate as low as 10°C, but it thrives best in temperatures between 15-21°C. While the Heart-leaf plant may make a lovely gift, it isn't so perfect for children or pets as it is toxic to them.
